Brown-Tougaloo Partnership

People

The Brown-Tougaloo Partnership (BTP) serves as an enduring national model for academic and cultural exchange. The partnership is overseen by an advisory council with members from the Brown University and Tougaloo College communities, and supported by staff and faculty at both institutions.

Brown and Tougaloo’s shared values of service, equity, leadership and academic excellence have enabled the uncharted partnership to grow and thrive over six decades. The Advisory Council on Relations with Tougaloo College is the partnership’s principal governance body, comprising appointed members from the Brown University and Tougaloo College communities.

While BTP programs are staffed by individuals from both institutions, at Brown, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides administrative support and oversight for the partnership, its programs and the individuals who are intrinsically tied to every facet of the partnership. The director of the Brown-Tougaloo Partnership, Juana Parillon, serves as the principal liaison at Brown, and assists with the coordination, development and expansion of existing programs and new initiatives.

At Tougaloo, the Division of Strategic Initiatives and Social Justices oversees BTP programs.
