Student Summer Research

Active Program

During the summer, students have the opportunity to conduct research in various departments and disciplines at Brown University or Tougaloo College through The Leadership Alliance’s James H. Wyche First Year Research Experience (FYRE) and Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP). Brown University students may participate in research with The Jackson Heart Study program and/or conduct independent research in other disciplinary areas at Tougaloo College.

Research at Brown or Tougaloo

During the summer, students have the opportunity to conduct research in various departments and disciplines at Brown University or Tougaloo College through The Leadership Alliance’s James H. Wyche First Year Research Experience (FYRE) and Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP). Both programs are fully paid summer internship opportunities that provide undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepare them to pursue competitive Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. programs.

How to Apply

Students may apply for both FYRE and SR-EIP through the program pages on The Leadership Alliance website. Both applications open November 1 and close in early February. FYRE is only open to first-year students.
