Active Program
The Civil Rights Trip at Tougaloo College offers Brown undergraduates the opportunity over spring break to conduct archival research and discover the rich history and culture of Mississippi broadly with time spent in the Delta.
The Brown-Tougaloo Partnership provides an opportunity for Brown students to apply to participate in a week-long Civil Rights Spring Break Trip at Tougaloo College. This trip is led by civil rights and social justice scholar from Brown University. It is designed with two principal goals. First, students will have the rare opportunity to research, discover, and appreciate the rich history and culture of Mississippi (broadly) and Tougaloo (specifically), which will promote a better understanding of the nation as a whole through comparison. Second, the trip also promotes the historic Brown-Tougaloo partnership, over 50 years strong, and encourages Brown students to participate in a semester-long exchange at a later date.
